Quality and logistics

How we test, pack and ship calcium carbonate, and the documents that go with every shipment.

Quality

Tested before it ships.

Quality is checked at source and confirmed against the specification you approve.

  • Testing at source

Material is tested where it is produced, before it is packed and moved.

  • Batch consistency

Each batch is checked against the specification agreed for your order.

  • Pre shipment samples

A sample from the batch can be sent to you for approval before the cargo ships.

  • Third party inspection

Independent inspection, for example by SGS or Intertek, is available on request at the buyer's choice.

What we test

Four properties, reported on the certificate.

The certificate of analysis for your batch reports these results. Test values for your grade are confirmed in the quotation.

  • 01

    Purity

The calcium carbonate content of the material, reported as a percentage.

  • 02

    Whiteness

How white and bright the powder is, which matters in paint, paper and plastics.

  • 03

    Particle size

The size distribution of the powder, reported as D50 and D97, or as a mesh grade.

  • 04

    Moisture

The water content of the material, which affects handling and use in polymers.

Packing

Packed the way your plant handles it.

Choose the format that suits your equipment and your order size.

  • 25 kg and 50 kg bags

Polypropylene bags, suited to smaller orders and to powders and granules that are handled by hand.

  • Jumbo bags

1 to 1.25 tonne bags for bulk handling, which suit larger orders and plants with lifting equipment.

  • Palletised or loose loaded

Bags can be stacked on pallets, or loaded loose into the container to make use of the full space.

  • Custom branding

Bags can carry your own branding and markings on request.

Shipping

20 foot containers, on the terms that suit you.

Cargo ships in 20 foot containers. These are the three trade terms we quote, in one line each.

  • FOB

    Free on board

We load the cargo on board the vessel at the port of loading. You arrange and pay for the sea freight and insurance from there.

  • CFR

    Cost and freight

We pay the sea freight to your destination port. You arrange insurance, and risk passes to you once the cargo is on board.

  • CIF

    Cost, insurance and freight

As CFR, and we also arrange minimum marine insurance to your destination port.
